Level 3 Emergency 1st Aid at Work

This Health and Safety Executive recognised Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work training course provides a detailed set of practical skills needed by 1st aiders within the workplace. The Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work teaches both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies. It meets the standards required to help comply with Health and Safety (First aid) regulations.

What is a first aider?

A first aider is someone who is qualified to administer 1st first aid treatment to a casualty, whilst ensuring the safety of themselves and anyone else involved in an incident where someone has sustained an injury. Emergency first Aid treatment can vary from simply applying a plaster to performing CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

Who is this qualification for?


Anyone over the age of 16. 

This qualification is aimed at learners who wish to become emergency first-aiders in the workplace. This qualification meets the requirements for training emergency first-aiders within any organisations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first-aid needs assessment.

SIA Door Supervisors and Security Guards have been identified as essential staff who are required to have this Level 3 Emergency 1st Aid at Work Certificate.

How long does the course take to complete?

To complete the Level 3 emergency first aid at work qualification learners should expect to undertake 7 hours of learning, typically over one day, with a minimum contact time of 6 hours.


This Level 3 Emergency 1st Aid at Work course complies with the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulation 1981.


What does the course include?

During the Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work training course, learners will receive and practice basic first aid training skills and demonstrate the knowledge required to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations.


These training skills include:

Managing an unresponsive casualty

CPR

Choking

Shock

Wounds

Bleeding and minor injuries.


How will learners be assessed?

During our Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work training course, delegates will need to complete a multiple choice assessment and will be assessed and evaluated throughout the course. This includes demonstrating practical assessments throughout the course.


Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work Certification.

All learners who successfully complete the Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work training course will receive a Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work certificate.


This certificate is valid for three years.

Recertification


Learners must attend a recertification course 1 month before their Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work qualification expires if they want to continue as a first aider in their place of work.
